School Placement Exercise for Returning Singaporeans-Secondary (SPERS-Sec)

Applications for the 2025 SPERS-Sec open from Thursday, 10 July 2025 to Wednesday, 23 July 2025.

The tests are conducted within a day and will be held in the week of Monday, 1 September 2025 to Friday, 5 September 2025.

Returning Singaporeans (RS) who are unable to return to Singapore for the SPERS-Sec tests may participate in the Supplementary Placement Exercise.

RS are encouraged to submit their applications early to avoid missing the application period.

1. Overview

What is SPERS-Sec

SPERS-Sec is a centralised placement exercise conducted for Returning Singaporeans (RS) who wish to join a secondary school at Secondary 1, 2 or 3 at the beginning of the next academic year. It is not compulsory and is intended for those who prefer to seek admission to a secondary school based on merit. More than 90% of applicants were posted to a secondary school within their 6 choices.

RS who are seeking a secondary school place near their Singapore residence are encouraged to apply for the Assured School Placement (ASP) service.

It is a convenient admission route which guarantees your child a place in a school with vacancies as near to your residential address as possible, even before your child returns to Singapore.

Your child will not need to not sit for any centralised test, although the school can conduct school-based tests and/or interview to determine the level and course/posting group for your child. Learn about the ASP service.

Receive entry proof

If your application is approved and payment is successful, you will receive an email informing you to retrieve your child’s entry proof from the CP.

Take tests

Your child will take tests for English and Mathematics in Singapore in the week of Monday, 1 September 2025 to Friday, 5 September 2025.

Fri, 14 Nov to Tue, 18 Nov 2025

Select preferred schools

Based on your child's performance in the tests, you will receive an email on Thursday, 13 November 2025 with the list of schools that they are eligible for. Submit your child's school choices using the SPERS-Sec Internet System (SPERS-Sec IS) by 4.30pm on Tuesday, 18 November 2025.

Receive posting results for Secondary 2 and 3 students

View your child's posting results by logging in to the SPERS-Sec IS from 8.30 am (Singapore Time). Your child has to report to school by Tuesday, 30 December 2025.

Fri, 19 Dec to Tue 23 Dec 2025 (tentative)

Receive posting results for Secondary 1 students

View your child's posting results by logging in to the SPERS-Sec IS from 9am (Singapore Time). Your child has to report to school by Tuesday, 30 December 2025.
