Scheme for Relief Educators (SRE)
Role and responsibilities
You will primarily cover teaching duties and may be assigned other duties depending on the school's needs. All duties are to be mutually agreed upon between you and the school.
Requirements
You may apply if you are:
- A graduate with a degree, or
- An undergraduate, diploma or A-level holder who is keen to experience relief teaching before affirming your interest in applying for a teaching role or Teaching Scholarship/Award.
Salary
- Graduates: $130 per day.
- Undergraduates, A-level or Diploma holders: $110 per day.
Wages are paid fortnightly based on hours worked each day:
- 5.5 hours or more: Full daily wage.
- 2.75 hours to under 5.5 hours: Half daily wage.
- Under 2.75 hours: Not eligible for salary payment.
You will not be paid for Sundays and scheduled school holidays. Public holidays that fall within your appointment period will be paid.
Contract duration
Between 1 day and 10 weeks per appointment per term, for at least 2.75 hours per day.
Leave benefits
You will be eligible for pro-rated leave benefits after 90 days or more of cumulative service. Cumulative service refers to contracts that:
- Last 14 days or more.
- Are renewed within 30 calendar days of the last contract.
- Are at the same school.
How to register
- Submit your application through the .
- Ensure your application is complete before submitting. All applications will be assessed based on the Ministry’s prevailing requirements and guidelines.
- You will receive an email on the outcome of your application. Processing time may vary, but it generally takes 4 to 6 weeks. In the meantime, you may check your application status through REMS 2.0.
- If your application is successful, you will be listed in our registry. Schools will contact you directly if they need your services. You may also search for school vacancies through job postings on REMS 2.0.
Successful registration in REMS 2.0 does not guarantee employment in a school.
Application window
- 1 November 2026 to 31 January 2027
Applications submitted outside this window will not be accepted.
How to update your qualifications
If you are currently registered as an SRE (Undergraduate) and have since completed your degree, please submit a fresh application as an SRE (Graduate) through REMS 2.0 during the application window.
How to renew your registration
Registration is valid for 3 years. You may check your registration expiry date in REMS 2.0.
You will receive an email 90 days before your registration expires, after which you may submit your renewal application in REMS 2.0.
- Log in to with your Singpass.
- Click on the “Applications” tab.
- Select your expiring registration and click on “Re-register”.
- Complete all required fields and submit your renewal application.
- You will receive an email with the application outcome 4 to 6 weeks after submission. You can also check your application status through REMS 2.0.
We strongly encourage you to submit your renewal application early, as it must be approved before you can begin or continue any school engagement.
